‘Sharknado’ – Film Thought/Review

Becoming a global success just of its trailer on Youtube, Asylum Studios/Syfy Channel ‘original’ movie ‘SHARKNADO’  has become one of the most insane cinematic cult followings of the year so far (even spawning a limited engagement in American cinemas). I give it is fun, probably more than Asylum’s usual ‘mockbluster’ films (see ‘Snakes on a Train’ and ‘Transmofers’ for just two examples), but really if you watch the trailer, you pretty much have seen the film (the trailer is the films entire second act including the amusing final kill, making you think that the whole thing is nothing more than just some Youtube video joke gone a little too long, meaning it’s not half as fun as what the title or even the viral trailer might suggest. Tara Reid though does a better performance than she does in ‘American Pie: The Reunion’, though.
